the unutterable thing
performance (play), film, installation | 2016
the unutterable thing is a play of horror, queerness and commemoration. It works through ideas on colonial paranoia, Islamophobia and pink-washing. The script presents altered fragments of Louis Couperus’ renowned novel ‘The Hidden Force’ (1900) and tracks a continuing colonial fear and romanticism in current political discourses. It was performed at Rowing Gallery, London.
